Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Vodafone Idea surges 7%

The S&P BSE Telecom index was up in Friday’s afternoon session with most of its components trading in the green.


The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.81 per cent up at 1031.80 around 12:27 pm.


Shares of Vodafone Idea (up 7.37 per cent), GTPL HathwayNSE 0.51 % (up 4.53 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 2.93 per cent) and OnMobile Global (up 2.56 per cent) were the top performers in the index.


ITI (up 2.49 per cent), Tejas Networks (up 1.98 per cent), Tata CommunicationsNSE 1.28 % (up 1.19 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 0.98 per cent) too were trading with gains.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 16.50 points at 11,586.50 while the BSE Sensex was up 53.01 points at 38,598.73.


Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.
Shares of SBI Life Insurance Company, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, BHEL, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, SAIL, PNB, GMR Infra, JSPL, Adani Power, Bank of Baroda, DHFL, Reliance Communications, IDBI Bank, PC Jeweller and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
