Share market update: Cement stocks under pressure; Andhra Cements slumps 5%

Most cement stocks were trading in the red in Tuesday’s afternoon session.

Shares of Andhra Cements (down 4.98 per cent), Ramco IndustriesNSE -4.40 % (down 4.68 per cent), Burnpur CementNSE -4.35 % (down 4.35 per cent), Mangalam Cement (down 3.81 per cent), NCL Industries (down 3.60 per cent), India Cements (down 3.58 per cent), Shiva Cement (down 3.56 per cent), Orient Cement (down 3.13 per cent), K C P (down 2.66 per cent) and Everest Industries (down 2.56 per cent) slumped up to 5 per cent.

J K Cements (down 1.82 per cent), HIL (down 1.77 per cent), Udaipur Cement Works (down 1.75 per cent), Rain Industries Ltd (down 1.73 per cent), HeidelbergCement India (down 1.51 per cent), JK Lakshmi Cement (down 1.27 per cent), Deccan Cements (down 1.13 per cent), Sahyadri Industries (down 0.88 per cent), Sagar Cements (down 0.75 per cent), Shree Cement (down 0.36 per cent) and Gujarat Sidhee Cement (down 0.30 per cent) too were trading with losses.


Indian Hume Pipe Company (up 1.76 per cent), ACC (up 1.50 per cent), Prism Johnson (up 1.20 per cent), Star Cement (up 1.10 per cent), Visaka Industries (up 1.09 per cent), Century Textiles & Industries (up 1.07 per cent) and Morganite Crucible (India) (up 1.01 per cent) were trading higher.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 20.25 points up at 11,209.45 while the 30share BSE Sensex was up 94.85 points at 37,781.22 at around 12:27 pm.

Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 2.89 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 2.02 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (up 1.52 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 1.41 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
